PT XYZ is a company engaged in the development and production of animal vaccines, with one of its main supporting functions being in the Research and Development (R&D) laboratory. In April 2025, the sterilization process of test equipment experienced delays, with the actual process time reaching 729 minutes sequentially or 627 minutes in parallel, exceeding the daily work capacity of 480 minutes. This study aims to identify the factors causing the delays, the types of waste, and design process improvements to increase work efficiency. The method used is a lean manufacturing approach with the help of value stream mapping (VSM) and process activity mapping (PAM) tools. The analysis results show five dominant types of waste: defects, waiting, transportation, motion, and overprocessing. Improvements were made through the elimination of non-value-added activities, the consolidation of work stages, layout improvements, and the application of the 5S principle. The number of activities decreased from 68 to 53 activities, while the parallel process time decreased from 627 minutes to 516 minutes. Time efficiency increased by 17.70%, and the achievement of ready-to-use equipment increased from 80% to 92.1%. The conclusion of this study is that the systematic application of lean manufacturing can increase efficiency and support the achievement of laboratory operational targets.
