Abstract

Forklifts are one of the main tools in logistics and production activities, functioning to move and arrange materials within the work area. However, in the operational practices at PT XYZ Bandung, frequent equipment failures occur due to sudden breakdowns, causing downtime and delays in material distribution. The reliability of forklifts greatly affects the smoothness of operational processes; therefore, an appropriate maintenance system is required to prevent work interruptions. The main issue identified in this study is the suboptimal implementation of Preventive Maintenance, which has led to high failure frequency and increased maintenance costs. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Preventive Maintenance implementation on forklift operational performance at PT XYZ Bandung using the Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) methods. The research data were obtained from field observations of three forklift units over a full year (January–December 2025). The analysis was conducted by calculating MTBF, MTTR, and availability values to assess equipment reliability. Based on the results, the average MTBF was 111 hours, MTTR was 2 hours, and the availability level reached 98%. These findings indicate that the application of Preventive Maintenance at PT XYZ Bandung is effective in reducing downtime and improving equipment reliability. This study recommends strengthening maintenance schedule supervision and implementing digital maintenance records to sustain and enhance the system’s effectiveness in the future.
