The Palu Earthquake in 2018 was an example of a very large liquefaction phenomenon and caused many casualties and hundreds of destroyed building structures. From this simple experiment, it is known that sandy and water-saturated soils when subjected to external forces will decrease their strength and stiffness. This phenomenon was followed by the appearance of a lowering in the sand surface and an increase in the water level after the shock occurred. Several examples of liquefaction events show that liquefaction can lead to disasters that can cost many lives and property.
ER -
