The imbalance in employee assignments within building maintenance activities has the potential to cause time inefficiency, uneven workload distribution, and a decline in organizational productivity. To date, research on optimizing employee allocation in the building maintenance sector, particularly within the pharmaceutical industry, remains limited compared to studies in manufacturing or logistics. This study contributes by applying the Hungarian method to determine the optimal allocation of labor for building maintenance tasks at PT XYZ. Data were collected through time measurement of task completion for each employee before and after optimization. The findings reveal a reduction in total completion time from 8.970 minutes to 6.846 minutes, with an improvement in employee efficiency ranging from 15% to 29%. In addition to producing a more equitable distribution of worload, the application of this method also provides practical implications for human resource management in the maintenance sector. This study affirms that the Hungarian method can serve as a strategic approach to addressing the issue of workforce allocation imbalance, while simultaneously enriching the literature on the application of optimaztion methods in building maintenance.
