Abstract

PT X is a company engaged in environmental management and laboratory testing, with the output in the form of a Test Result Certificate (SHU). The current issue faced by PT X is the frequent delays in the issuance of SHU. From January to December 2024, the average percentage of SHU issuance delays was recorded at 14.3%. The main objective of this research is to identify the root causes of delays in the issuance of the Test Result Certificate (SHU) and to propose improvement strategies using the Lean Six Sigma method. Lean Six Sigma is a systematic approach aimed at identifying and eliminating waste or non-value-added activities through continuous improvement to achieve a six-sigma level of performance. The results of the research show a reduction in SHU issuance process time to 5,908 minutes, equivalent to 13 working days, from the previous duration of 6,455 minutes or 14 working days. This indicates a significant difference between the current and future states, as the improvement in the SHU issuance process successfully eliminates 8.47% of waste time across all activities.
