This study was assisted using descriptive analysis techniques and data collection carried out by non-participant observation. The data used was taken from the "Celebrity Entertainment" section of the official Cable News Network (CNN) website by analyzing all the news on the top page (latest news).&nbsp;The findings showed that there are three different categories of compound words: compound adjectives (50%) and compound nouns (25%) as well as compound verbs (25%) respectively. However, there are three different kinds of meaning: idiomatic meaning (17%), semi-idiomatic meaning (33%), and literal meaning (50%). Furthermore, it can be deduced that among compound nouns, literal meaning accounts for (50%) of all occurrences, followed by semi-idiomatic meaning, which accounts for (50%) of all occurrences but excludes idiomatic meaning. Additionally, literal meaning, which accounts for (100%) of all meanings in the category of compound verbs, is more common than idiomatic and semi-idiomatic meanings, which are rare. CNN International news entitled “<em>As Uvalde Funerals Continue, Authorities' Timeline of the Terror at Robb Elementary Continues to Shift</em>” (CNN 1) and “<em>Forced Out of School during the Pandemic, now She's Pregnant. She's One of Millions of Girls who Won't Return to the Classroom</em>” (CNN 2) was chosen by the researcher as the research object. Researchers employed the following research steps in this paper: (1) reading CNN International news. (2) Gathering information in the form of a list of compound-identified terms (3) Identifying and categorizing the different sorts of compound terms found in the study object. Compound types are presented in tabular form in the form of word lists. The results of the analysis obtained based on the data: (1) The total compound words found in both CNN International news is 35 words. This paper will show how the figurative languages are used and what they mean in literal meaning. This paper will also provide the steps about methods used in making this paper. The data used is the descriptive analysis and using the qualitative method. This paper will discuss about the figurative language by comparing it with the literal meaning and figurative meaning so the reader will understand the differences between them. The result shown is that nearly all of the content of the poem used figurative language where the author Langston Hughes expresses his point of view that he wanted to make America as a country which stand alone and make it a place where everybody wanted to be and make it a place the americans used to know all this time. This also explains that he thought and felt that America has changed a lot over the years. Slogans play a crucial role in conveying the essence of the product to the audience. This study analyzes the meaning behind sayings used in Japanese fast-food advertisements through a semantics lens. This study uses a qualitative method to categorize the slogans based on Leech's Seven Types of Meaning theory (1981). The data collection involves identifying Japanese fast food advertisements from various media, organizing the catchphrases, and analyzing the meaning behind the sayings. The study results indicate that the most slogans contain associative meanings, and some have affective and connotative meanings. The study utilizes error analysis to identify common types of errors, including article omission, subject-verb agreement, auxiliary verb omission, addition of verbs, and preposition addition/omission. The research aims to contribute to effective language instruction by providing insights into the challenges faced by EFL learners and developing targeted interventions to enhance their spoken English proficiency. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method, analyzing video recordings of oral tests conducted with 16 students. The errors are categorized based on the surface strategy taxonomy and analyzed using relevant theories on interlanguage and error analysis.
