Abstract

Water is the most important element in human life. Humans use water for consumption, washing, bathing, and many other activities. In Indonesia there are two types of water sources, namely piped water sources and non-piped water sources, piped water sources are managed by PDAM. PDAM still uses analog flowmeters. For PDAM customers, this analog flowmeter is difficult to access and convert into the number of bills that must be paid. With the current system, PDAM officers calculate the amount of the bill manually. Therefore, a tool is needed to monitor water use in real-time. This study aims to monitor the volume of water used and the cost of water use in real-time. This tool uses the ESP32 microcontroller, YF-S201 water flow sensor, mesh topology to communicate with each other locally, and the MQTT protocol to communicate with brokers. The results of the discharge measurement still have an error of 15.5%. The average time it takes for the data sent can be received from 1 Node to another Node is 10.3s, with a distance of 30m between each Node. The average time it takes to send data from the Gateway to the broker is 3.95s.
